Profile of Our Children
Three Trees Dominican Republic
The Three Trees family in Jimani, Dominican Republic is made up of boys and girls, teens, and young adults who have been placed in our care for a variety of reasons. A few of them are orphans while the majority were unable to be cared for by their biological families. All of them have experienced trauma. It is our desire to raise them in a home where they will:
Learn of God’s unconditional loving acceptance and walk in a personal relationship with him
Through that relationship, and with the help of counseling, learn strategies to help them have freedom from the damaging effects of their past traumas
Be academically prepared to graduate high school and then career school or college
One day, have healthy marriages, parent their children well, and minister in impactful ways within their communities through whatever career path God has in store for them
Three Trees Haiti
There is such poverty and desperation in Haiti that it is common for boys (aged 10 and up) to make their way to the border of the Dominican Republic searching for a better life. Unfortunately, what they encounter is more poverty and desperation made worse by being alone and vulnerable to abuse on the streets of a foreign country where they do not speak the language. We desire to intercept them at the border where they can:
Be provided with food and shelter during an interviewing/investigation process
When possible, be reunited with their biological family
When in their best interest, be placed in our shelter in Fonds Parisien, Haiti where they will attend school and be cared for in a safe environment
Our Vision
We see a future where children who were once vulnerable radiate hope and reflect God's love and splendor to others.
Our Mission
Our mission is to establish Three Trees as a vital organization within the border communities of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. We focus on providing essential shelter, care, and support to children and teenagers who have left or been removed from their homes, and consequently, find themselves in vulnerable situations. Collaborating closely with local authorities, we are dedicated to ensuring their safety, addressing their risks, and working tirelessly to establish lasting solutions.
Our “Three Trees”
LIFE
Every child has the right to a life free from abuse, neglect, and mistreatment. It is our desire that the children in our care experience the fullness of life. Primarily, that involves them knowing that God knows and loves them. We will introduce each child to this concept and strive to actively demonstrate God's love for them in word and action.
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” Revelation 22:1-2
FAMILY
Every child has a right to be part of a family. While the children in our care may not be family by blood, regardless of the length of time they are with us, we want to model a healthy family by providing basic needs in a home environment headed by a married couple, with the goal of breaking cycles of abuse and neglect. We desire to see the kids in our care in loving and lasting relationships, grounded in their faith and raising their own children in a stable, Godly environment.
“But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children” - Psalm 103:17
RIGHTEOUSNESS (Justice)
The children in our care will be coming from difficult situations where they have been hurt both physically and emotionally. By providing a safe and secure place where they can grow and mature, it is our goal that they see themselves as special and valuable and realize that they can reflect the splendor of God. Through love and support, they can find restoration from the hurts of the past and become adults that are active and involved in bringing change to their communities by speaking up for those who are in situations that they were once in.
“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” Isaiah 61:3
